Marine and Fisheries Assessment, Ghana

Marine and Fisheries Specialist Study

Aquatic Ecosystem Services was appointed to undertake the fisheries and marine ecological assessment for a liquid natural gas (LNG) pipeline and offshore storage and regasification facility at Tema, Ghana. Key stakeholder meetings were undertaken with fishery participants to determine types and areas of operation, and assess the likely impact of the facility on their day to day activities. An offshore field survey involving habitat mapping, remote video work and grab sampling along the proposed pipeline route and at the offshore storage facility location was undertaken. Benthic samples were used for infaunal assessment and particle size distribution analysis to inform dispersion modelling. Results from the habitat assessment were reported and used to assess impacts of the pipeline routing.
