The Eden District Coastal Zone Management Program (CZMP) was developed during 2012 in accordance with the requirements of the National Environmental Management: Integrated Coastal Management Act (Act 24 of 2008; ICM Act), which was promulgated to establish the statutory requirements for integrated coastal and estuarine management in South Africa. AES undertook the GIS and mapping tasks for the development of the coastal management programme for the Eden District. This included delineating development and setback boundaries along the coast and estuaries that fall within the District for use by managers and planners. These boundaries are based on the requirements of the ICM Act and other relevant legislation.
